So I weighed in at 288 lbs today. I honestly have no idea how that happened. I’ve been weighing in between 290 and 293 for the last week or so. Yesterday I weighed in at 289 – which I thought was amazing, because after I posted last time, I haven’t been back there. Yesterday was also my birthday – so .. I threw caution to the wind and went off my diet. I ate two cupcakes for breakfast. I had chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies, and then a few adult beverages, and a package of pop tarts (2 in a package). I wasn’t completely excited about having to weigh in today, but was surprised – in a good way.
I don’t generally eat like that. I’m about the protein shakes, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, chicken – low carb kinds of stuff. Sometimes however I think it’s OK to have a cheat day. Birthdays, holidays, once every few weeks. I just don’t make it a habit.
In other news – I live in New York – and we’re still on quarantine for the Covid-19 virus. The gyms are still closed, and we’re directed to stay at home. I haven’t been as physically active as I’d like, but I’m sticking to my diet. I’ve been working @ home or from a remote office since about 3/5 – I weighed about 296 then. So, I’ve been able to take off 8 lbs since the remote work started. I’m fairly close to my one year since surgery. I’ve noticed in the last few months that my weight loss has dramatically slowed. This was expected. I’m still heavy, but I’m a lot better off than I was last year. I once lost a lot of weight, but I put it back on again. This time I’m being super careful about that. I set limits for myself. Once I go up past the limit, I strictly diet. Most of the time I can eat the things that I want, but I graze/pick between meals. When I hit my upper limit, that stops immediately. I find that if I catch it quickly, the weight comes right off. I weigh in twice a day. Because of that, I’ve gotten a really good idea on how my body is gaining or losing weight. I find it helpful so that I can make adjustments as I go. This might not work for everyone, but for me it’s helpful.
