Hi, I know I’m not posting this on Oct 11, but that’s OK .. I was running out the door to work and didn’t have time to log in to post my new weight; but I did write it down so I can post it now. On Friday morning I weighed 313 lbs. That’s a 5 lb loss from last Friday.
While I post my weight once a week, I generally weigh myself twice a day. Once in the morning and once before bed. My doctors told me not to torture myself this way, but I do it anyway. While I know that my weight is OK to fluctuate throughout the day, and I don’t take it personally if I’m up a few pounds, I’m able to spot trends and adjust my diet for the next day or two accordingly. I still do protein shakes for breakfast on most days, but I’m able to adjust to a salad or something for lunch or a light dinner if I’m up a little more than I’d like.
In the past I’d lost about 70 lbs. Slowly the weight creeped back up. A pound here or a pound there. Eventually I was back where I started from. It was completely demoralizing. I would have been so much easier to lose 1 or 2 pounds, but not 20 or 30 pounds. I’ve learned my lesson. I plan on staying on top of things this time around.
So, this week I woke up early and got to the gym three or four days, and was strict about my diet on the first few days of the week. On Thursday and Friday I went to conferences where meals were served. I know I wouldn’t have any control over what was served, so I made sure I started the day with my protein shake, and while I wasn’t particularly strict in my diet on those days, I didn’t eat irresponsibly. I didn’t over eat and stuck to mostly water or coffee for drinks. Earlier in the week when I did have control over my food intake, I watched what I was eating. Going to the gym helps with that because after working out, I kept thinking about how good I felt and didn’t want to lose that feeling by eating poorly.
